Hang gliding is one of the windsports. It is a recreational sport that uses a craft often consisting of a metal-framed fabric wing, with the pilot mounted on a harness hanging from the wing frame and exercising control by shifting body weight against a triangular bar also attached to the frame. Hang gliding is very popular world-wide.
Hang Gliding in Rio de Janeiro
Hang Gliding Tandem Flights take place in Pedra Bonita, a beautiful mountain located in São Conrado area, just 20 minutes from Copacabana. No previous experience is required since the instructor takes control of the whole flight while you`ll be experiencing one of the greatest adventures of your life. For your safety, we work with the best pilots, who have over 20 years of experience and are certified by the Brazilian Hang Gliding Association.
Tour Duration: From 2 to 4 hours average, according to group size, pilots availability or sudden changes with the wind.
Included: Flight and equipment rentals. Transfers, photos and videos can be purchased separately.
Tips: Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothes. No flip flop sandals nor jeans pants.
Passenger`s Weight Limit: 95 kilos (210 lbs). This limit may be lowered down to 80 kilos (185 lbs) if the wind condition is too weak.
Minimum Age Required: 16. Parents must be present to sign the papers, otherwise minimum age will be 18.
Departures: daily, under request. Pick ups (when hired) start from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
High Season Prices
(from december 15th to march 15th):

R$ 30,00 per person - transfer
R$ 50,00 per person - photos (digital photos of the flight delivered in a cd)
R$ 100,00 per person - dvd video (by purchasing video, the photos come for free)
Tickets to use the ramp must be paid separately,at the Hang Gliding club (R$ 20,00 per person)
Tips: High season is the busiest time of the year in Rio, so due to the limited number of flights we can do per day, we strongly suggest our customers to book the flights for that period, ahead of time. Also, avoid dates between December 30th and January 2nd , as well as the week of carnival. The ramp over Pedra Bonita is the ONLY ramp available for tandem flights in Rio and number of flights can triple and sometimes quadruple, which can make the waiting frustrating and exhausting for both customer and pilot.

Transfer Policy:
The covered areas for transfers are: Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Lagoa, Gavea, São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca, Joatinga, Urca, parts of Botafogo and Humaita.
For pick ups in other areas such as Flamengo, Gloria, Catete, Santa Teresa and Centro, an extra fee of R$ 10,00 person will be required.
